1.
Instructors~ All instructors are carefully evaluated for their professional
training, personal character, and ability to work with students. It is
also important their teaching philosophy and technique standards be
consistent with that of DANCE TIME.
2.
Controlled Class Sizes~
DANCE TIME
will not overcrowd classes. Class sizes are
determine by age and learning ability. Beginning, 3 year old
classes do not exceed 8 students per class, 4 and 5 year old classes
do not exceed 12 per class and no classes, regardless of age or
experience, exceed 16 students. This policy enables instructors to
give students the individual attention they need to make necessary
technique corrections and maintain order in the class.
3.
Class Entry
cut-off dates~
As a
matter of policy, new students are only accepted in a class up to point
where they can be worked with to catch them up to other members of the
class. Once the point has been reached this is no longer possible, only
students with enough experience to catch up will be allowed to enter a
class. Usually, these are students who have moved here from another
area and have already been taking instruction elsewhere.
4.
Evaluations~
Evaluations occur
annually for each DANCE TIME student and recommendations are made as to
which classes would be best suited for their learning pace and ability.
Evaluations are also done whenever a student comes to DANCE TIME from
another studio to determine their proper placement. This is done so that
students will not be placed in classes that are above their ability
where they might feel somewhat intimidated or, below their ability where
they may not feel they are getting sufficient training. It is always
better to have a student start in a class where they can comfortably do
the work at first, then move them up if the instructors feel they can
handle a higher level.
5.
Balanced Training~ Some studios
purposefully emphasize training on a student’s strong side so they will
be more impressive in competitions. However, the down side to this
practice is increased potential for injury and lack of balance in the
student’s ability. At DANCE TIME, our instructors teach proper
technique and work on both sides so dancers will not be at a greater
risk for injury and will have more balanced performance on either side.
6.
Age Appropriate~
DANCE TIME believes in the
preservation of innocence in childhood.
DANCE TIME is committed to providing age
appropriate music, dance routines, and costumes for all students.
7.
Parent
Monitoring~ Parents may observe classes through the glass
windows in the doors to each room at any time if they wish to do so.
In addition, a "watch week" takes place every other month where
parents are invited into the class room to monitor students progress.
8.
Performance Group~
DANCE TIME
provides a performance group, Steppin' Up, for students who
desire more performance opportunities than a once a year recital. The
mission of the performing group is to improve children's performance
abilities and self esteem by creating opportunities to perform and
interact with the community. For more information and
photos please visit the
Steppin'
Up Performing Group page.
